Abstract:

The article reports on a study in Switzerland of the effects of stress on nurses and patients, in which nurses use electronic diaries to record their emotional reactions to events. Themes recorded by nurses in the study involved medical errors, delays in delivering patient care, violence from patients, and bullying and harassment by staff.
